Assessment The initial assessment is individually determined and may include a combination of educational psychology/clinical psychology assessment as well as comprehensive paediatric/psychiatric evaluation taking several hours. The aim of the comprehensive initial assessment is to identify the nature and significance of a patient's difficulties so that advice can be given as to the most effective means of managing and improving these. This may include a combination of various strategies, which will vary according to the individual's needs. Patients are regularly monitored and reviewed and there is professional guidance and family support.
